The pupils at The Hampshire School Chelsea have worked incredibly hard this term and it is wonderful to note how the breadth of opportunity at the school is enhancing their personal, as well as their academic, development. The Year 1 - Year 3 Form assemblies have been a delight to witness with the pupils sharing their expansive knowledge and showcasing their many and varied talents. The Harvest Festival, Remembrance Service and Peter Jones Christmas Medley, were wonderful community events where the pupils’ singing and public-speaking skills came to the fore while the array of music concerts further revealed the self-confidence and performance skills of pupils from Year 1 upwards. The pupils’ confidence in public speaking skills was evident in the school’s impassioned United Nations Day debates. There has been much success in the performing arts this term! In sport, the opportunity for children as young as Year 2 to enter local school competitions, and for our older pupils to compete in high profile IAPS and ISA tournaments and festivals has proved to be invaluable experiences for our pupils in honing their football, hockey and netball skills. I was delighted to congratulate the pupils on their Cross Country times this week in assembly, where many celebrated personal best times.
In the Prep School the results of the internal exams in November were very encouraging and the pupils have been honing their interview skills to prepare for Senior School interviews. We have participated in the School Quiz Championships, and due to exceptional first round results some of our pupils have been invited to the National Oxford Computer Challenge in the Bebra’s IT Challenge.
Finally, but not least, it is with great pride that I am attending the opening evening of the English National Ballet’s production of the Nutcracker this evening as the guest of Mrs Ind, Chelsea Ballet School. The production includes three of our children, Eve, Karim and Rafiq who exceptionally well in the auditions that they were selected as cast members for this very special Company production at the Coliseum.
