Throughout the school, children have been exploring the Art of Colour using paints, pastels and mixed media to experiment with colour mixing, tones, shades and brush work.
Inspired by the artist Georgia O'Keeffe, Year Seven and Eight have created some vivid close-up studies of flowers and plants. O'Keeffe was an American artist who painted nature in a way that showed how it made her feel. She is best known for her paintings of flowers and desert landscapes. She was inspired by Arthur Wesley Dow, who emphasised the importance of composition. As O’Keeffe explained: ‘His idea was, to put it simply, fill a space in a beautiful way’.
We have used some of the children's recent paintings to fill our display board in a beautiful way!
